Inhalt

This year’s seminar will focus on selected advanced techniques in ultrasound imaging. Students will familiarize themselves with various research topics based on current scientific publications, including:

• Plane Wave Imaging
• Harmonic Imaging
• Super-Resolution Imaging
• Row Column Arrays
• Flexible Arrays
• Deep Learning
• Full Waveform Inversion
• Multiperspective Ultrasound Imaging

Prior knowledge of ultrasound imaging is beneficial for this seminar. Students prepare for the topics covered by reviewing articles from scientific journals. In doing so, they analyze key concepts, present methods and results, and evaluate the significance of these findings for the current state of research. Students develop their topics in writing and present them in oral presentations. The presentations are discussed in terms of both content and presentation.

Objectives

After suc­cess­ful com­ple­ti­on of the mo­du­le, stu­dents have the abi­li­ty to in­de­pen­dent­ly ex­plo­re a selec­ted topic area. This in­clu­des li­te­ra­tu­re se­arch ta­king into ac­count in­ter­na­tio­nal spe­cia­list li­te­ra­tu­re and re­le­vant data­ba­ses, as well as the ana­ly­sis, selec­tion and eva­lua­ti­on of sour­ces. They are able to struc­tu­re and sum­ma­ri­ze sci­en­ti­fic con­tent, pre­pa­re a writ­ten paper and a pre­sen­ta­ti­on. You have a good com­mand of com­mon pre­sen­ta­ti­on tech­ni­ques (tech­ni­cal and rhe­to­ri­cal) and are able to ex­plain a sci­en­ti­fic topic in terms of con­tent and to an­s­wer ques­ti­ons. They can ana­ly­se other pre­sen­ta­ti­ons, re­flect on pre­sen­ta­ti­on tech­ni­ques and for­mu­la­te con­struc­tive cri­ti­cism.

Prior knowledge

Know­ledge of sys­tem theo­ry and si­gnal pro­ces­sing, cor­re­spon­ding to those taught as ba­sics in the lec­tu­res of the ba­che­lor's pro­gram in Elec­tri­cal En­gi­nee­ring and In­for­ma­ti­on Tech­no­lo­gy. Basic know­ledge of ultrasound imaging would be hel­pful.
